ABOUT THIS COURSE

MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit is the worker-facing unit of the permit-to-work suite — the practical knowledge needed to operate safely under hot work, confined space, isolation, working at heights or other formal permit systems.

The unit teaches you what a permit is for, how to read its conditions, how to confirm controls are in place before you start, and how to recognise the moment when the work has changed enough that the permit no longer applies.

It is the entry-level unit of the permit suite (alongside MSMPER201 Monitor and control work permits and MSMPER202 Observe permit work, and beneath the permit-issuer unit MSMPER300). Many sites require this unit before any contractor or worker can be authorised to work under a permit.

Assessment

How You’ll Be Assessed

Assessment combines written knowledge questions with supervised practical performance tasks completed during the course.

Practical Performance Tasks

1
Read a sample issued permit and explain its scope, controls and time window
2
Conduct a pre-start check confirming all listed controls are in place
3
Identify a simulated change in conditions that takes the work outside the permit
4
Stop work, communicate with the issuer, and request re-permitting
5
Close out the permit correctly at end of task with the required sign-offs

Written Assessment

Short-answer written questions covering permit types, scope and conditions, isolation verification, scope creep, and worker responsibilities under the permit system.
