ABOUT THIS COURSE

RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents is the structured emergency response unit — for the trained team members who deploy with equipment, training and a plan when the alarm sounds.

The unit covers the team-level skills of an Emergency Response Team (ERT): deploying to a known emergency, working under an incident commander, using specialised equipment, executing pre-planned response procedures, and operating safely in conditions that are still developing.

It is the standard competency for ERT members on mine sites, civil projects, gas and chemical operations, and major infrastructure builds. It complements rather than replaces specialist units in confined space rescue, vertical rescue or hazmat response — those sit on top of this baseline.
