ABOUT THIS COURSE

This program is built on the content of TLIF3091 Apply awareness of dangerous goods and hazardous materials requirements, delivered as non-accredited training. Participants learn how dangerous goods are classified, labelled, packaged, stored and segregated — and what every worker needs to know about reading the labels, understanding SDS and handling chemicals safely.

The program follows accredited-training content and standards but issues a Certificate of Attendance rather than a Statement of Attainment. It is the right option for warehouse, logistics, processing and industrial workforces who interact with dangerous goods routinely but do not need the formal qualification.

It pairs naturally with the operational HazMat units in Group 08 (PUAFIR306, PUAFIR308, PUAFIR324) for sites that want both a broad awareness layer for the general workforce and a deeper response capability in the response team.

Assessment

How You’ll Be Assessed

This is non-accredited training. Participants complete supervised practical activities and a knowledge review during the course. A Certificate of Attendance is issued on successful completion — no Statement of Attainment is awarded.

Practical Performance Tasks

1
Identify the dangerous goods class and packing group from a set of placards and shipping documents
2
Locate and interpret the key sections of a Safety Data Sheet for a workplace chemical
3
Apply segregation rules to a sample of mixed dangerous goods using a compatibility chart
4
Identify GHS pictograms on container labels and explain the hazard each represents
5
Walk through a simulated workplace and identify chemical hazards using the chemical register
6
Respond to a simulated minor chemical spill with the correct first actions and escalation

Written Assessment

A short knowledge review covering the ADG Code, dangerous goods classes, GHS labelling, SDS interpretation, segregation principles and workplace chemical safety responsibilities.
